"The Bald Ego and Other Fantasies..." is a self-published artist’s book which accompanied Branden Koch’s solo exhibition “The Bald Ego” at Regina Rex, NYC April 7 - May 14, 2017. It is a high quality digitally printed one-color limited edition of 250 (unnumbered), production split-funded by the Artist and Regina Rex Gallery. Its contents present a heterogenous narrative of personal, political, and satiric images detailing and arranging selected original works by the artist which were included in the exhibition. The signed inscription on the front inside cover reads: “These drawings were made between November 8th, 2016 and January 20th, 2017 and shortly thereafter. They represent and embody a complicated spectrum of emotion experienced during a time of acute political and social uncertainty in America. I offer this publication as a critical visual dialogue towards progressive change.” The publication was sold at Regina Rex during the run of the show for $10/ each and thereafter online through the artists’s website. John Yau published a review of the exhibition in Hyperallergic entitled: “Branden Koch Looks At America and Doesn’t Like What He Sees” April 16, 2017, which documents the publication’s roll in presenting the work.
